Tektite strobes probe the Aegean Sea in "Titanic's Tragic Sister", on The History Channel
The Britannic is the larger sister to the ill-fated Titanic. Converted to a hospital ship for WWI, on November 21, 1916, Britannic was steaming through the Kea Channel in the Aegean when an explosion ripped through the ship causing the world''''s largest ocean liner to sink in 400 feet of water. Famous New Jersey wreck divers John Chatterton and Richie Kohler (hosts of "Deep Sea Detectives", Shadow Divers, U-869) lead an expedition to unravel this mystery of the Britannic''''s final hour. Tektite Strobes can be seen in several shots on the mooring buoy down-line at the decompression stops. Our strobes were also "off screen", but essential, during the tense scene in boiler room #6. While 100 feet inside the wreck, and 400'''' down, the penetration dive had to be aborted when the visibilty dropped to zero during the "silt out". Our strobes safely guided the divers back to the exit.

Tektite Torcher™ Test
On February 28, Tektite's design and engineering team completed another round of Torcher Testing. See the video below! The goal of this Torcher Test was to subject our flashlights to the extreme weight and pressure of a tank.
During the testing we drove a retired 54-Ton British Tank over several of our flashlights. This unique product and demanding test helps demonstratethe extreme ruggedness and durability of our flashlights.
After the test, we inspected the flashlights and came to the following conclusions:
- The Excursion LS4 once again demonstrated that it deserves the title of Most Durable Flashlight in the World. It survived the test with only minor scuffs and body scratches.
- The Trek 2/4 demonstrated its extreme resilience to the crushing forces exerted by the 54-Ton Tank. While its ABS body was slightly deformed, it still worked after this test.
-Only one flashlight didn''''t survive the test; It was still shining, but could not be turned off. However, this prototype model has been redesigned and we fully expect it to pass this Torcher Test next time. That''''s what testing is for!
Tektite would like to thank Ricky''''s Army & Navy in Delran, NJ, for all their assistance.

Tektite shines in Iditarod trail sled dog race
Richard Hum of Talkeetna, Alaska, used Tektite''''''''''''''''s LPR-113 LED replacement bulb as he ran in the famous Iditarod trail sled dog race on March 4, 2006. Richard installed the LPR-113 bulb in his musher''''''''''''''''s headlamp to ensure better visibility at night, when most of the running is actually done.
Iditarod, dubbed "The Last Great Race", is a gruelling 1,150-mile trail race across some of the most beautiful and at the same time unforgiving terrain in Alaska. This will be yet another test for Tektite''''s rugged products as Richard embarks on his journey in sub-zero temperatures and blinding winds.

Tektite Lights Make World Record Dive
Two Trek 4 dive lights joined Mark Ellyatt on his world record deep dive to 1,032 feet (313 m) on December 18, 2003.
Mark carried four dive lights with him during his record setting dive; in addition to the two Trek 4s, he also carried two 4 C-cell lights from another manufacturer. Mark said that both Trek 4s performed great, despite the fact that only one of his other two lights worked once hemade it to 313 m (the other did survive, but it was severely damaged).Mark attached the Trek 4s to his hood so that we could read his gauges and the depth markings on his descent line.
Mark was quite impressed that he was able to find dive lights capable ofwithstanding the extreme pressure of a 1,000 foot dive. "Once 180 mdepth came, it brought with it the darkness. Underwater lighting hascome along way in the last year and it''''''''''''''''s now possible to virtually guarantee operation to 300 m (with the right lights of course!)."
Build a Flashlight Kits Now Available
For more than ten years we''''''''ve hosted local youth groups, including the BoyScouts, to our factory to show them how we build flashlights. At theend of the demonstration, we then allow the visitors to assemble onefor themselves to take home. These project kits are great learning tools to teach children how flashlights work; plus they''''''''ll have a wonderful flashlight to use for camping and other outdoor activities.Discounts are available to community and scout groups that purchase 5 or more flashlight kits.
